Creative Brief Overview
Life Back, Life Given is a national social impact campaign mobilizing people in long-term recovery (5+ years sober) to become living kidney donors.
We believe there’s a unique, untapped connection between recovery and living donation: both are acts of courage, resilience, and hope. This campaign invites people who have reclaimed their own lives to help save another — creating a ripple effect of life-changing impact.
Tagline for social & visuals: You got your life back in sobriety. Now you can give life.
💡 What if people with substantial time in recovery from their disease of addiction chose to help save the life of someone living with kidney disease?
💡 What if we could make this an ongoing movement — a tradition in the recovery community?
💡 What if hitting 5 years sober became a milestone not just for personal victory, but for giving life through kidney donation?
The Opportunity
- The Need: Over 90,000 people in the U.S. are waiting for a kidney.
- The Gap: Living donors are scarce, yet recovery communities are filled with healthy, mission-driven individuals.
- The Potential: Pairing recovery milestones with donation opportunities could create a sustained donor pipeline and a powerful cultural tradition.
Goals
- Inspire Action – Encourage eligible people in recovery to explore living donation.
- Build Partnerships – Collaborate with transplant centers, donor networks, and recovery organizations.
- Create a Movement – Establish donation as a recognized act of service in the recovery community.
Key Audiences
- Primary: People 5+ years sober and medically eligible for donation

🌱 Why This Matters to Me
My name is Blair, and I come from
a family of kidney donors.
In 1998, my mom gave a kidney to my dad.
He lived 17 more years.
Years later, my cousin donated
to her mom, my aunt.
Now my brother Tyler needs a kidney.
Tyler is approaching 7 years sober and works
in addiction recovery, helping others reclaim their lives.
His disease of addiction did not cause his kidney failure.
He inherited polycystic kidney disease
from our dad.
I can’t give him mine
But I can give everything
I’ve got to help him find one
And hopefully help others too
This campaign was born from our story
From what we’ve lived
And from what I know is possible when
people choose to give life after getting theirs back
This is not just a one time ask
It is a ripple
Rooted in recovery
Powered by hope
Made for movement
Tyler’s Story — His sister’s version
He’s always been wild in the best way. Funny. Kind. Never boring. I’ve always looked up to him, even as I quietly learned from his mistakes how to break rules a little smarter. His love and quiet protection shaped our bond into the kind of best friendship only siblings like us can understand.

Our Parent’s Story — A Love Story That Gave Life
In 1998, my mom gave a kidney to my dad, and he lived 17 more years.
Their love was the kind that moved mountains and moved a kidney.
What they shared became the first chapter in our family’s story of giving.
